The Brick Township Historical Society will hold its first meeting of the new season on September 9, 2014 at 7:30 pm. Joseph G. Bilby, assistant curator of the NJ National Guard and Militia Museum in Sea Girt, will present a program in commemoration of the 350th birthday of New Jersey. This year of 2014 celebrates when the sparsely settled area across the river from New Amsterdam (which became New York) was first named New Jersey. Bilby will focus on individuals and events throughout the history of the colony, and then, the state of New Jersey. Along with James Madden and Henry Ziegler, Bilby is one of the authors of 350 YEARS OF NEW JERSEY HISTORY FROM STUYVESANT TO SANDY.
