The Brick Township Historical Society meets the second Tuesdays of September,
November, January, March and June at 7:30 pm in the Herbertsville Firehouse, 601 Herbertsville
Road, Brick, New Jersey

Programs are presented at each general meeting, which are open to the public. Besides the general meetings the Society runs bus trips, workshops, and participates in local events.

The Society operates the
Havens Homestead
521 Herbertsville Road,
Brick, NJ.

Proceeds from sales and fund raisers are used to maintain Havens Homestead, which
is open for tours and special events.

Jan. 14, 2014 – PORTRAYAL OF GENERAL GEORGE WASHINGTON by Sam Davis of Chesterfield, NJ. Davis is a member of the Bordentown Historical Society.

Mar. 11, 2014 – LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER IDA LEWIS’ LIFE – Irene Szeliga, member of the Brick Township Historical Society, will give a program on Ida Lewis, one of the first women known for her lifesaving abilities on the East Coast, mainly in Newport, RI. The program will include sound effects, enlarged photos pertaining to Lewis’ life and an overview of the triumphs and sad death of Lewis.

June 10, 2014 – Owen and Janet Heller – LENAPE FAMILIES PRIOR TO THE ARRIVAL OF EUROPEANS IN THE 1600’S – The Hellers of Lakehurst, NJ will discuss the different roles and obligations of Lenape families though the four seasons. They will be dressed in Native American clothing.
